Foster Homes are given an honest evaluation of the temperament regarding a dog we have to place. Oftentimes, the complete history of any animal may not be known and behavioral or temperament problems might emerge which, on rare occasions, may be serious enough to raise safety concerns or questions regarding suitability for adoption. Are you prepared to handle behavioral issues with assistance/guidance from the animal’s adoption counselor: *

On a very rare occasion, an animal may need to be euthanized due to medical conditions, would you have any issue with this: *

Foster Homes work with an ARNNE Adoption Counselor, who has the ultimate responsibility for the dog and the right to place it as he/she feels is appropriate. Is this acceptable to you: *

Thank you for considering fostering a pet from Animal Rescue Network of New England. Please read below before submitting your application:

We sincerely hope that we may be of service to you. Please fill out this application completely. The application is designed to assist the potential foster care provider in finding an animal suitable to his/her lifestyle.

The animals here at the shelter are termed "random source." This means that we accept animals from all sources including stray, abandoned, and homeless animals.

THERE IS SOME RISK IN BRINGING AN ANIMAL from any shelter or humane organization into your home since frequently we have no background information on the health and temperament of an animal, or information given to us in inaccurate. We attempt to evaluate all incoming animals for health and temperament problems; however, thorough health screenings are not provided. Often certain types of problems will not demonstrate themselves until the animal is in a home situation or a specific time period has elapsed (as in the incubation period of certain viruses). For these reasons, WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THE HEALTH OR TEMPERAMENT OF ANY ANIMAL and urge the owner of a newly acquired animal to bring the animal to a veterinarian for a thorough health screening as soon as possible.

Some of the animals at Animal Rescue Network of New England have come from abusive or negligent homes. As a potential foster care provider, please be aware that most of the animals that need foster care will need an abundance of patience, understanding, time and training to make them agreeable companions.

In order to be considered as a foster care provider today, you must:

  • BE 21 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.
  • Have identification showing your present address.
  • Have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in your household.
  • Have the knowledge and consent of your landlord or the person owning the premises in which the animal will be kept.
  • Understand that this application is the property of Animal Rescue Network of New England and will be retained in its files.
  • Understand that Animal Rescue Network of New England has full authority to approve or deny your application.
  • Understand that Animal Rescue Network of New England reserves the right to verify all information submitted on this application, including veterinary information.
  • UNDERSTAND THAT YOU MAY NOT TRANSFER CARE OF ANY ANIMAL ACQUIRED FROM Animal Rescue Network of New England TO ANOTHER PARTY. IF YOU MUST RELINQUISH CARE OF ANY ANIMAL YOU HAVE ACQUIRED FROM Animal Rescue Network of New England, YOU MUST CONTACT A REPRESENTATIVE OF Animal Rescue Network of New England FOR PERMISSION TO RETURN THE ANIMAL TO Animal Rescue Network of New England.
  • All of the above information I have given is true and complete. I agree to follow all the Rules and Procedures of ARNNE. I understand that it is my decision whether or not to foster any particular dog. I will not hold ARNNE responsible for any damage, injury, or harm caused directly or indirectly to any person or property by any dog I may decide to foster or volunteer my time to help.
