For up-to-date info like events, closings, new animals, success stories please LIKE Manchester Animal Shelter on Facebook! My name is Blu. I'm a super handsome, 6 year young, gray kitty, looking for my forever home. I am still getting used to the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I was in a wonderful foster home and liked to cuddle with my foster mom on her comfy bed. However, I am a little shy and I scare easily, so a quiet, adult, cat savvy home is best for me. I am looking for a wonderful adult family that will give me the time, patience, understanding and love I need to settle into my new home. A home without small children or dogs please; they scare me. Older, respectful children would be ok with me, though. I will need to have my very own room at first so I can get used to my new family and home, as I tend to hide when frightened. However, I promise to work on this with my new family. Do you have the perfect home for me? If so, please come to the shelter to meet me, I am so looking forward to going home soon. Let me tell you a little about myself my name is Hanzel (I also respond to the name Handsome BOL) and I’m a 8 year old sophisticated Pitbull. Wait a minute I know what you are thinking and no I’m not a lazy old dog. Actually I’m a very energetic, active, happy go lucky, smart, beaming pup who would love for you to take the time to get to know me.Ok no I’m not a puppy anymore but older pups have a lot of benefits that you may not have considered. For instance, I’m housebroken, crate trained and have some of my basic education under my fur. I’m very fluent in sit, paw and very willing to learn more. I don’t beg, ok maybe I do a little but I’m not rude and won’t steal your food. If I’m patient enough it usually pays off with being rewarded with one of my own treats. I’m very attentive and willing to attempt most anything when I’m bribed with cookies. I’m well past my chewing stage so your furniture is safe but please remember to give me my own toys that are acceptable to chew on.I’m an avid believer that in order to stay happy and healthy one must be diligent in maintaining a regular exercise routine. I enjoy going for walks, trail seeking, playing in the yard and running around like a nut. My leash skills are not horrible but I can admit when something needs improving. I enjoy playing with toys and can entertain myself if need be. I love to entertain my audience and will be the first pup to let my fur down. At the end of the day after play sessions, exercise and fun it’s time to relax cuddled up to you. We can do whatever you want as long as I’m with you. Some other things you should know, unfortunately I have absolutely no social skills, manners or fondness when it comes to any of my furry friends. Some pups rub me the wrong way and I can be bratty when passing them by (please make sure I’m leashed at all times when out in public). I need someone who will take the time to teach me how to ignore my surroundings and concentrate my focus on you. Another thing is I don’t understand kids and they tend to make me nervous so a home where I can be your one and only kid is necessary. I have a heart of gold and wear my emotions on my paws. I’m looking for someone who will make the effort, be dedicated and work with me on some of my short comings. No one is perfect nor do I claim to be but I’m very loyal and loving. If I extend my paw will you extend your hand? I hope so because if you give me a chance I promise to make you proud.Come down to the shelter for a visit and say hi. I’m waiting to meet the first person I will see when I wake up and the last person I will fall asleep next to. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Come meet Hanzel at the shelter! Chinchillas make great pets! This little love is Nike. Chinchillas are nocturnal meaning they like to sleep during the day and play at night. They can live to be 15-20 years old! They are fragile so they are not good for very young children but make a great pet for a responsible teen or tween. They have fragile ribs and are designed to jump / tumble off ledges so great care must be taken when picking them up. They need exercise and like to run in a wheel or saucer. They need weekly "dust baths." This is one of the cutest things to watch. The chinchilla will roll around in special sand to make itself clean. They can overheat easily so they must live in a climate controlled area that can stay at or below 75-80 degrees. They are social and need lots of time playing and cuddling.

For up-to-date info like events, closings, new animals, success stories please LIKE Manchester Animal Shelter on Facebook! My name is Rambler. I'm an adorably cute, 1 year old, male black kitty, with big ears and bright eyes. I like being up high, in a comfy bed or cat tree and take in all there is to see. However, when people come in the room I make sure to rub against them to greet them. You see they give me yummy treats. I also love food and try to get all I can. Everyone is amazed at how fit and trim I am. I think it's because I love playing, either by myself, with interactive wand toys and laser lights or with other cats. I adore other cats and love to rub against them, play or just hang out together. I can be a little shy until I can survey what's going on and then I can be the life of the party. Although I am still nervous about being picked up. I promise I will try to work on this more once I'm in my forever home. I absolutely love hanging out with all the other kitties at the shelter, it's so much fun, but I would really like to find a home of my own and a family I can shower with attention and antics. My ideal home would have a family willing to give me the time it takes to settle in, another kitty to play with and of course, love me forever. Older children would be ok, as long as they are familiar with cats, but no dogs, please. Do you have a cat that would like a buddy? If not, why not adopt me with one of my buddies here at the shelter? We are already acquainted and would make a great addition to your family. Looking forward to meeting you! Love, RamblerThe adoption fee for adult cats includes the following: spay or neuter and procedure; 1 year Rabies vaccination; distemper vaccination, microchip; and combo test of FIV (feline AIDS) and FeLV (feline leukemia). Other medical care provided might include treatments for fleas, ear mites, dental work or infections or other medical conditions. Additional kitten vaccinations will be the responsibility of the adopter.

For up-to-date info like events, closings, new animals, success stories please LIKE Manchester Animal Shelter on Facebook! Roy is a wonderful 2 year old black cat who needs someone who is willing to love him and envision what he will look like in another month or two. Poor Roy was found behind our shelter building, in need of some medical care. His face and body had some scrapes on them, but our vet here says that, in time, the fur will grow back just fine. He's looking better every time we see him! He also arrived here with a crinkly ear, which makes him look so darn cute. Roy is not a big fan of dogs or cats, so a home without them is what he prefers. Older, respectful children would be okay with him, though. Are you the person who can see past his current looks? Are you the one who roots for the underdog? Then come in and meet Roy. For up-to-date info like events, closings, new animals, success stories please LIKE Manchester Animal Shelter on Facebook!Meet Spice! This 6 year old, little lady is looking for her forever home. Before arriving at the shelter, this girl had such a sad story. She was a skinny little momma, out on the street with a litter of kittens to take care of. She most likely had to do some fighting on the streets, just to get food for herself and her babies. As a result, she became wary of other animals and people too. We think that she was someone's beloved pet at some time, but she has been on her own for so long that she seems to have forgotten all the love that she was once given, She is beginning to slowly trust again, and is making small but steady progress. In order to keep moving in a positive direction, Spice will need to go to an adult-only home where there are no other pets. Her new cat-savvy owner will need to be willing to give her lots of time, patience, and understanding. A quiet, adult only home would suit this pretty girl just fine. The right adopter for this girl will, in time, be rewarded with a stunningly beautiful cat who will be able to, once again, give her love freely back to them. Are you up for the challenge that is Spice? Spice is currently at the adoption center in Petsmart Manchester. The hours when you can interact with her up close and personal are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 6-8 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 1-3 pm.The adoption fee for adult cats includes the following: spay or neuter and procedure; 1 year Rabies vaccination; distemper vaccination, microchip; and combo test of FIV (feline AIDS) and FeLV (feline leukemia). It’s been over a year that Tank has been in our care and the hardest thing for us to understand is why people aren’t knocking down our doors to inquire about this sweet boy. We take in so many walks of life. All with different stories, interests, needs, requirements and certainly personalities. We have residents who get along with just about everyone human and furry alike. Those who prefer to live with one furry kind but not the other. Some who hope for a quiet home without the presence youngsters running around. There are those whose sole desire is to be your one and only furry love. And of course there are the residents who want your utter devotion to themselves. In Tank’s case he has no desire to share your attention with another furry friend. He wants you all to himself. Being an 8 year old Pitbull he has earned that right. However he is willing to embraces the companionship of a slightly older human sibling.Tank has a colorful vocabulary that will surely impress you. Being the scholar he is, he has his basic obedience well under his fur. Things like sit, paw, other paw and back up are second nature to this pup. Hoping to find someone as dedicated to furthering his education as he is. Wanna go for a walk? Tank will happily retrieve his leash and he’s ready to go! While out for a stroll his skills are very well polished when wearing a gentle lead but with the distraction of another pup in sight his focus will stray. Redirect his attention back to you with your sweet voice or some tasty treats and go about your merry way.Pawloose and fancy free this pup has it going on. He has an inquisitive personality and a handsome appearance. Easily entertained by his favorite toy, excited by your participation and thrilled just to spend time with you. Retrieving is second nature, bringing it back to you is assumed but pretending to keep his prize all to himself is his silly demeanor shining through. One thing that truly makes this boy happy is rolling around on his back like a nut. To witness this you can’t help but chuckle! Nothing short of a loyal companion, your faithful shadow and a loving friend.Very quiet and well-mannered at home. Tank really enjoys his pup television. Never heard of pup television? It’s when you find your favorite spot, watch out the window and daydream of anything dear to your heart. At the end of the day quiet time, curled up next to you is required. First he will sit on your side, then he will put a paw on you to make sure you are close and then his sleepy head will lay in your lap to make sure you don’t go anywhere.Tank is one of a kind knowing exactly how to comfort your soul and awaken your spirit. He wears his heart securely attached to his paw. His affection flows freely, his love abundant. One look at those big brown eyes and I assure you, life will never be the same. Searching for a home with complete and utter Zen. Somewhere where he has a balanced life. Exercise is important but so is resting his head at the end of the day. Do you have room in your life for a pup as wonderful as Tank? Can you give him the future he longs for? Fill out an application and maybe you can score a chance to get to know each other. Be impressed with his talented skills, silly personality and sweet demeanor. He has so much to offer someone special if just given the chance.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tank is residing in one of our wonderful foster homes. If you are interested in him please stop by the shelter and fill out an adoption application. We do not have online or emailed applications. All applications must be filled out at our Manchester Animal Shelter location. You and your family will always meet the dog you are applying for prior to finalizing the adoption to make sure this dog is the right fit for your family. * Update on Tanner from his foster home*Good so far! Didn't wake us up at all through the night. He's actually been a very good walker on the leash. He needs a few reminders throughout the walk, but he pretty much just stays right by our sides and walks on a loose leash. He likes to be MOVING. Standing still is a challenge, but even with that, he was happy to sit out on the porch with us this morning while we drank coffee. He just sat and watched the cars. Still a bit of whining. He never tried to run off the porch (we had him on leash). He's a good dog. Just needs some really consistent rules, routines, and exercise. We like him 🙂 We'll have to bring him back for the weekend, but I think we'll take him home again next week when we're back.Looking to spice up your life? Hoping to find someone you connect with that you can share your days with? Want to make a commitment to a life that will bring you joy, smiles and laughter? Tanner wants to be all these things and more. This jazzy little boy is a whirlwind of energy! He is a 3 year old Pitbull who has so many things he wants to do, so many places he wants to explore and he wants to do them all with you!In his spare time Tanner enjoys running, tearing through the yard, chomping on his Kong and sprinting on the trails. He’s got a personality filled with silliness, sweet with a side of spunk. Tanner is your typical toddler. He needs limits, boundaries, clear concise direction and guidance. His new parents need to be savvy in his breed to be able to communicate with him effectively. Enroll Tanner in school, teach him the ways and he will be sure to thrive. He already knows sit but there is so much more to learn and he has the drive to please.Tanner loves to play. I mean really LOVES to play! Therefore a pup who can tolerate his personality is a must. Tanner is not cat savvy. Can you give Tanner the discipline he needs? The love and care he deserves? How about making a trip to the shelter to meet our super pup?
