For up-to-date info like events, closings, new animals, success stories please LIKE Manchester Animal Shelter on Facebook! My name is Blu. I'm a super handsome, 6 year young, gray kitty, looking for my forever home. I am still getting used to the hustle and bustle of everyday life here at the shelter. I was in a wonderful foster home and liked to cuddle with my foster mom on her comfy bed. However, I am a little shy and I sometimes get a little scared. so an owner who can reassure me is what I would love to have. A quiet, adult, cat savvy home is best for me. I am looking for a wonderful adult family that will give me the time, patience, understanding and love I need to settle into my new home. A home without small children or dogs please; they frighten me. Older, respectful children would be ok with me, though. I will need to have my very own room at first so I can get used to my new family and home, as I tend to hide when frightened. However, I promise to work on this with my new family. Do you have the perfect home for me? I am currently taking a break from shelter life, and am staying at the home of one our awesome foster families. If you would like to meet me, just give the shelter a call at 603-628-3544 and they will be happy to arrange a meetup between you and me. I am so looking forward to going home soon. Oh yes, and those eyes of mine--are they mesmerizing or what? I would do best in a home with a kitty I can hang out with since I'm not the most confident cat. When you look into his big gold eyes, you can see how pensive he is. It's almost like he's dreaming of a family of his very own. Doc is very active, he loves to play. Just give him some time with a feather wand, or some little toy mice, and you will see just how active Doc really can be. These animals are chosen as family friendly dogs and puppies and transported up from southern states like South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Delaware and Texas to New Hampshire. We do not have the room at our shelter so we need foster homes for them to go into.PLEASE consider fostering a dog or puppy. The current devastation in the southern states is overwhelming the shelters more than normal. If you adopt, you will save one, if you foster you can save 100! Think about it - it is so rewarding to save a life!If you are interested in fostering dogs or puppies (they are family friendly and most always good with other dogs and usually cats) please fill out an application http://www.manchesteranimalshelter.org/animals/fostering-dogs/ and our southern transport coordinator will be in touch. I spent time in a warm, loving foster home where I happily raised my little family. My foster mom says I am a wonderful mom to my kittens. I am so happy to know my kittens will have warm, loving homes of their very own and not have to live on the streets like I did. Now it's my turn to find my forever home. I love and sometimes demand your attention. Spending time by my foster mom's side, I absolutely loved it when she petted my head, ears, back and even my tail. I even let her pick me up. Since I am new here at the shelter I have not had the opportunity of meeting the other cats or dogs, but if you are interested in adopting me, just ask the wonderful volunteers to introduce me to other cats and dogs to see how I do. I am really excited to start interviewing families to find my purr-fect, forever home. Why not stop by to meet me in person, you just may fall in love and want to take me home. Let me tell you a little about myself my name is Hanzel (I also respond to the name Handsome BOL) and I’m a 8 year old sophisticated Pitbull. Wait a minute I know what you are thinking and no I’m not a lazy old dog. Actually I’m a very energetic, active, happy go lucky, smart, beaming pup who would love for you to take the time to get to know me.Ok no I’m not a puppy anymore but older pups have a lot of benefits that you may not have considered. For instance, I’m housebroken, crate trained and have some of my basic education under my fur. I’m very fluent in sit, paw and very willing to learn more. I don’t beg, ok maybe I do a little but I’m not rude and won’t steal your food. If I’m patient enough it usually pays off with being rewarded with one of my own treats. I’m very attentive and willing to attempt most anything when I’m bribed with cookies. I’m well past my chewing stage so your furniture is safe but please remember to give me my own toys that are acceptable to chew on.I’m an avid believer that in order to stay happy and healthy one must be diligent in maintaining a regular exercise routine. I enjoy going for walks, trail seeking, playing in the yard and running around like a nut. My leash skills are not horrible but I can admit when something needs improving. I enjoy playing with toys and can entertain myself if need be. I love to entertain my audience and will be the first pup to let my fur down. At the end of the day after play sessions, exercise and fun it’s time to relax cuddled up to you. We can do whatever you want as long as I’m with you. Some other things you should know, unfortunately I have absolutely no social skills, manners or fondness when it comes to any of my furry friends. Some pups rub me the wrong way and I can be bratty when passing them by (please make sure I’m leashed at all times when out in public). I need someone who will take the time to teach me how to ignore my surroundings and concentrate my focus on you. Another thing is I don’t understand kids and they tend to make me nervous so a home where I can be your one and only kid is necessary. I have a heart of gold and wear my emotions on my paws. I’m looking for someone who will make the effort, be dedicated and work with me on some of my short comings. No one is perfect nor do I claim to be but I’m very loyal and loving. If I extend my paw will you extend your hand? I hope so because if you give me a chance I promise to make you proud.Come down to the shelter for a visit and say hi. I’m waiting to meet the first person I will see when I wake up and the last person I will fall asleep next to. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Come meet Hanzel at the shelter! For up-to-date info like events, closings, new animals, success stories please LIKE Manchester Animal Shelter on Facebook! My name is Kitkat. I'm a six years young, pretty dilute tortoiseshell girl with bright, beautiful eyes. However, due to a wound I am missing my tail, but that hasn't got me down at all. I love spending time with the other cats here, sometimes I act like a mom and bathe them. I'm a laid back kind of girl, I do like to play occasionally, but louging in the cat tree or looking out the window is what I really enjoy. I can be a little reserved and I am not a fan of being picked up or snuggled, but I will let you know how content I am by excepting lots of head and ear rubs. I have not had the opportunity to meet any dogs, but a laid back cat would be a wonderful companion for me. The volunteers think I will flourish where the home life is calm and structured. Older children only, as the younger ones tend to frighten me, and I can get a little sassy from time to time. Do you have space in your heart and home for a girl like me? I am so excited to be interviewing families to take me home. Please call the shelter today at 603-628-3544 to make an appointment to meet me. See you soon, Love, KitkatThe adoption fee for adult cats includes the following: spay or neuter and procedure; 1 year Rabies vaccination; distemper vaccination, microchip; and combo test of FIV (feline AIDS) and FeLV (feline leukemia). Other medical care provided might include treatments for fleas, ear mites, dental work or infections or other medical conditions. Additional kitten vaccinations will be the responsibility of the adopter.

For up-to-date info like events, closings, new animals, success stories please LIKE Manchester Animal Shelter on Facebook! My name is Rambler. I'm an adorably cute, 1 year old, male black kitty, with big ears and bright eyes. I like being up high, in a comfy bed or cat tree and take in all there is to see. However, when people come in the room I make sure to rub against them to greet them. You see they give me yummy treats. I also love food and try to get all I can. Everyone is amazed at how fit and trim I am. I think it's because I love playing, either by myself, with interactive wand toys and laser lights or with other cats. I adore other cats and love to rub against them, play or just hang out together. I can be a little shy until I can survey what's going on and then I can be the life of the party. Although I am still nervous about being picked up. I promise I will try to work on this more once I'm in my forever home. I absolutely love hanging out with all the other kitties at the shelter, it's so much fun, but I would really like to find a home of my own and a family I can shower with attention and antics. My ideal home would have a family willing to give me the time it takes to settle in, another kitty to play with and of course, love me forever. Older children would be ok, as long as they are familiar with cats, but no dogs, please. Do you have a cat that would like a buddy? If not, why not adopt me with one of my buddies here at the shelter? We are already acquainted and would make a great addition to your family. Looking forward to meeting you! For up-to-date info like events, closings, new animals, success stories please LIKE Manchester Animal Shelter on Facebook!Meet Spice! This 6 year old, little lady is looking for her forever home. Before arriving at the shelter, this girl had such a sad story. She was a skinny little momma, out on the street with a litter of kittens to take care of. She most likely had to do some fighting on the streets, just to get food for herself and her babies. As a result, she became wary of other animals and people too. We think that she was someone's beloved pet at some time, but she has been on her own for so long that she seems to have forgotten all the love that she was once given, She is beginning to slowly trust again, and is making steady progress. In order to keep moving in a positive direction, Spice will need to go to an adult-only home where there are no other pets. Her new cat-savvy owner will need to be willing to give her lots of time, patience, and understanding. A quiet, adult only home would suit this pretty girl just fine. The right adopter for this girl will, in time, be rewarded with a stunningly beautiful cat who will be able to, once again, give her love freely back to them. Are you up for the challenge that is Spice? Spice is currently at the adoption center in Petsmart Manchester. The hours when you can interact with her up close and personal are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 6-8 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 1-3 pm.The adoption fee for adult cats includes the following: spay or neuter and procedure; 1 year Rabies vaccination; distemper vaccination, microchip; and combo test of FIV (feline AIDS) and FeLV (feline leukemia). It’s been over a year that Tank has been in our care and the hardest thing for us to understand is why people aren’t knocking down our doors to inquire about this sweet boy. We take in so many walks of life. All with different stories, interests, needs, requirements and certainly personalities. We have residents who get along with just about everyone human and furry alike. Those who prefer to live with one furry kind but not the other. Some who hope for a quiet home without the presence youngsters running around. There are those whose sole desire is to be your one and only furry love. And of course there are the residents who want your utter devotion to themselves. In Tank’s case he has no desire to share your attention with another furry friend. He wants you all to himself. Being an 8 year old Pitbull he has earned that right. However he is willing to embraces the companionship of a slightly older human sibling.Tank has a colorful vocabulary that will surely impress you. Being the scholar he is, he has his basic obedience well under his fur. Things like sit, paw, other paw and back up are second nature to this pup. Hoping to find someone as dedicated to furthering his education as he is. Wanna go for a walk? Tank will happily retrieve his leash and he’s ready to go! While out for a stroll his skills are very well polished when wearing a gentle lead but with the distraction of another pup in sight his focus will stray. Redirect his attention back to you with your sweet voice or some tasty treats and go about your merry way.Pawloose and fancy free this pup has it going on. He has an inquisitive personality and a handsome appearance. Easily entertained by his favorite toy, excited by your participation and thrilled just to spend time with you. Retrieving is second nature, bringing it back to you is assumed but pretending to keep his prize all to himself is his silly demeanor shining through. One thing that truly makes this boy happy is rolling around on his back like a nut. To witness this you can’t help but chuckle! Nothing short of a loyal companion, your faithful shadow and a loving friend.Very quiet and well-mannered at home. Tank really enjoys his pup television. Never heard of pup television? It’s when you find your favorite spot, watch out the window and daydream of anything dear to your heart. At the end of the day quiet time, curled up next to you is required. First he will sit on your side, then he will put a paw on you to make sure you are close and then his sleepy head will lay in your lap to make sure you don’t go anywhere.Tank is one of a kind knowing exactly how to comfort your soul and awaken your spirit. Hello world! My name is Tanner and I want to be your new best friend.Right off the bat I want everyone to know one thing: if you come visit me at the shelter I may seem bonkers, but trust me, this is all a front. When I am in my foster home away from the stress of the shelter, I love to spend the day relaxing, playing, and snuggling. Just watch the video I made for proof of what a happy, playful, relaxed pup I am really am!My foster parents have provided me with structure, exercise, and rules, which has taken all the stress off my little shoulders allowing me to be the dog I really want to be. I love having a strong leader who gives me a job and shows me good manners. Left to my own leadership, I tend to get anxious and frustrated, so I am looking for an owner who is willing to show me good leadership! I have been adopted before, but my owners did not provide what I needed so I have created some requirements for my new family: 1. First, I need exercise! Nothing crazy, but a really good walk everyday helps me get all my jitters out. I'm great on the leash. Plus, if my new owner is a runner or a hiker that would be amazing because I'm awesome at both!2. Next, I need someone who makes me wait for the good things in life. My old homes gave me everything I wanted, whenever I wanted it. I'll admit, I became pretty spoiled, and now I hate waiting. My foster parents have been teaching me to wait which feels so good and has taken away a lot of stress throughout my day, especially waiting for them to come home and play with me after work. It’s true what they say, “The best things in life are worth waiting for!”3. Last, I need a job! Not to brag, but I'm really REALLY smart. When no one challenges me with training or a task, I get bored and try to find jobs for myself (like alerting you when there are creatures outside, woof!). But with direction and a new task (like asking me to chill in my bed or play with my favorite rope toy), you can help me have a purpose and feel relaxed. At the end of the day, I don't want to scare anyone off, but I've always been told honesty is the best policy. I can't wait to meet my new owners and show them what an amazing dog I am! I know I have some pretty high standards, but I'm ready for my real forever home and, like I said, the best things are worth waiting for. Can't wait to meet you soon! Tanner P.S. Here’s a bonus note from my foster parents: Tanner is a great dog. He needs an owner who is committed to him and is a strong dog leader. Tanner is very intelligent and loves to have a task even as simple as laying in one spot when there are lots of other distractions. Tanner can be good with dogs when he is carefully introduced, and he loves the leadership his foster sister (our dog). But he needs to be properly introduced, and he will benefit from further socialization with balanced dogs. Tanner loves his crate and has no problem spending the day in it, but he does have separation issues that will need continued training. When he first came into our home, he would cry when left alone. Within a couple short weeks, he has adapted to our routine and is quiet and relaxed when we leave and return home. Tanner loves structure and is growing every day into a more relaxed and balanced dog. We would love to work with anyone who adopts Tanner to ensure a smooth transition and successful adoption.Adoption hours: Saturday: 10-4 Sunday: 12-3 Monday and Friday: 12-4 Tuesday and Thursday: 12-4 and 6-8pmAdoption fee is based on age: Dogs 7 months to 7 years are $275 **They are spayed and neutered, age appropriate vaccines, microchipped and heartworm tested. If you have questions you can call our office at 603.628.3544. Meet Trooper!! This handsome 7yr. old guy is in the unfortunate position of looking for a new retirement home. He is incredibly sweet and well mannered. He will make a great walking partner and cuddle buddy. He knows all the basics - sit, stay, down, speak - and would love a new home to call his own. He gets along with some dogs but would do best in a home without one - he deserves all the attention! He does do ok with cats.
