For up-to-date info like events, closings, new animals, success stories please LIKE Manchester Animal Shelter on Facebook! My name is Blu. I'm a super handsome, 6 year young, gray kitty, looking for my forever home. I was having a hard time getting used to the hustle and bustle of everyday life here at the shelter, so I was given the chance to spend some time in the home of one of our foster families. I am there right now as I speak. I like to cuddle with my foster mom on her comfy bed. However, I am a little shy and I sometimes get a little scared. so a home with another cat who can reassure me is what I would love to have. A quiet, adult only, cat savvy home is best for me. I am looking for a wonderful adult family that will give me the time, patience, understanding and love I need to settle into my new home. A home without small children or dogs please; they frighten me. I need to have an outgoing kitty buddy in the home as I need the support and friendship. Older, respectful children might be ok with me given time and space, though. I will need to have my very own room at first so I can get used to my new family and home, as I tend to hide when frightened. However, I promise to work on this with my new family. Do you have the perfect home for me? If you would like to meet me, just give the shelter a call at 603-628-3544 and they will be happy to arrange a meetup between you and me. I am so looking forward to going home soon. Love, Blu xoxo The adoption fee for adult cats includes the following: spay or neuter and procedure; 1 year Rabies vaccination; distemper vaccination, microchip; and combo test of FIV (feline AIDS) and FeLV (feline leukemia). Other medical care provided might include treatments for fleas, ear mites, dental work or infections or other medical conditions. Additional kitten vaccinations will be the responsibility of the adopter.

Chester (10 months) and Boss (4 years) are looking for a patient, cat savvy home with another cat. Both boys are shy and unsure of humans, but have made great progress while with us at the Shelter. Chester is still young, just under a year, and will engage in play with a feather toy as long as you will play with him. Boss is more laid back, and is starting to relax with petting. He’s very expressive and has the cutest face! Although these two boys did not come in to the Shelter together, they were introduced, became quite fond of each other and we would love for them to find a home together if you have room for two. Please stop in to meet Boss and Chester. We are open Mon/Fri 12-4, Tues/Thurs 12-7, Sat 10-4 and Sun 12-3.

Feather is a shy but sweet gray and white 8 year old lady who is looking for a home where she can live out her golden years in style and comfort. She doesn't want to stay at the shelter a minute more than she has to. She is shy and a little wary of the goings on here at the shelter. We're thinking that a quiet home with lots of love is just what she needs. No small children in her new home would work best for her. A quiet, laid back cat to keep her company would suit her well. Would you like to give Feather the retirement home that she deserves? Feather is located in the Roy building here at the shelter, so please ask for her by name when you come in. Because of Feather's age (8+ years), she and all of her other senior friends at the shelter are available at our Senior Adoption Rate of $35.00.

Let me tell you a little about myself my name is Hanzel (I also respond to the name Handsome BOL) and I’m a 8 year old sophisticated Pitbull. Wait a minute I know what you are thinking and no I’m not a lazy old dog. Actually I’m a very energetic, active, happy go lucky, smart, beaming pup who would love for you to take the time to get to know me. Ok no I’m not a puppy anymore but older pups have a lot of benefits that you may not have considered. For instance, I’m housebroken, crate trained and have some of my basic education under my fur. I’m very fluent in sit, paw and very willing to learn more. I don’t beg, ok maybe I do a little but I’m not rude and won’t steal your food. If I’m patient enough it usually pays off with being rewarded with one of my own treats. I’m very attentive and willing to attempt most anything when I’m bribed with cookies. I’m well past my chewing stage so your furniture is safe but please remember to give me my own toys that are acceptable to chew on. I’m an avid believer that in order to stay happy and healthy one must be diligent in maintaining a regular exercise routine. I enjoy going for walks, trail seeking, playing in the yard and running around like a nut. My leash skills are not horrible but I can admit when something needs improving. I enjoy playing with toys and can entertain myself if need be. I love to entertain my audience and will be the first pup to let my fur down. At the end of the day after play sessions, exercise and fun it’s time to relax cuddled up to you. We can do whatever you want as long as I’m with you. Some other things you should know, unfortunately I have absolutely no social skills, manners or fondness when it comes to any of my furry friends. Some pups rub me the wrong way and I can be bratty when passing them by (please make sure I’m leashed at all times when out in public). I need someone who will take the time to teach me how to ignore my surroundings and concentrate my focus on you. Another thing is I don’t understand kids and they tend to make me nervous so a home where I can be your one and only kid is necessary. I have a heart of gold and wear my emotions on my paws. I’m looking for someone who will make the effort, be dedicated and work with me on some of my short comings. No one is perfect nor do I claim to be but I’m very loyal and loving. If I extend my paw will you extend your hand? I hope so because if you give me a chance I promise to make you proud. Come down to the shelter for a visit and say hi. I’m waiting to meet the first person I will see when I wake up and the last person I will fall asleep next to. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Come meet Hanzel at the shelter! He is available to visit during regular adoption hours. Adoption hours: Saturday: 10-4 Sunday: 12-3 Monday and Friday: 12-4 Tuesday and Thursday: 12-4 and 6-8pm Adoption fee is based on age: Dogs 7 months to 7 years are $275 **They are spayed and neutered, age appropriate vaccines, microchipped and heartworm tested. Madeline has a sad story to tell. A change in her family situation has landed her back here in the shelter. It was a case of new family members moving back into the home that made her very nervous. She was not happy at home at all; which is not to say that she is happy here But at the same time, she is remaining optimistic that someone out there will come in to the shelter and fall head over heels in love with her. And what's not to love? She is a beautiful black and white kitty with such long white whiskers. At 13 years of age, she is looking for a home where she can retire in style and comfort. Do you have what it takes to turn her frown into a smile? Come in soon and ask to meet this sweet miss who deserves a home of her own. Come in and meet this stately lady soon! Madeline and her other friends here who are 8+ years of age are eligible for our senior adoption rate of $35.00.

Noelle wants to go home to a forever family who will love her and spoil her to pieces--can you help her out? She is an 8 year old dilute tortoiseshell girl with huge double paws. You don't see many females that are polydactyl, so you need to come in and see this rare quality in Noelle soon. She also has a distinctive triangular face, just like a lioness. She loves being out of her cage and exploring around . Noelle is an active, curious girl; this is why her photos here are not the best. She is so active--You would never guess that she's 8 years young! She doesn't like to sit still for the camera at all! Understandably, she is not too happy when she's in her cage. Noelle loves good conversation, so be prepared to give her a big hello when you come in! Once she goes home, Noelle should do okay with older children and she may do okay with a calm, laid back dog. She may do all right with the right cat, given a slow and proper introduction. This super sweet lady likes to drink her water out of a large dish, she even does a little dance ritual before she drinks. She is definitely an interesting kitty with tons of personality. It’s been over a year that Tank has been in our care and the hardest thing for us to understand is why people aren’t knocking down our doors to inquire about this sweet boy. We take in so many walks of life. All with different stories, interests, needs, requirements and certainly personalities. We have residents who get along with just about everyone human and furry alike. Those who prefer to live with one furry kind but not the other. Some who hope for a quiet home without the presence youngsters running around. There are those whose sole desire is to be your one and only furry love. And of course there are the residents who want your utter devotion to themselves. In Tank’s case he has no desire to share your attention with another furry friend. He wants you all to himself. Being an 8 year old Pitbull he has earned that right. However he is willing to embraces the companionship of a slightly older human sibling. Tank has a colorful vocabulary that will surely impress you. Being the scholar he is, he has his basic obedience well under his fur. Things like sit, paw, other paw and back up are second nature to this pup. Hoping to find someone as dedicated to furthering his education as he is. Wanna go for a walk? Tank will happily retrieve his leash and he’s ready to go! While out for a stroll his skills are very well polished when wearing a gentle lead but with the distraction of another pup in sight his focus will stray. Redirect his attention back to you with your sweet voice or some tasty treats and go about your merry way. Pawloose and fancy free this pup has it going on. He has an inquisitive personality and a handsome appearance. Easily entertained by his favorite toy, excited by your participation and thrilled just to spend time with you. Retrieving is second nature, bringing it back to you is assumed but pretending to keep his prize all to himself is his silly demeanor shining through. One thing that truly makes this boy happy is rolling around on his back like a nut. To witness this you can’t help but chuckle! Nothing short of a loyal companion, your faithful shadow and a loving friend. Very quiet and well-mannered at home. Tank really enjoys his pup television. Never heard of pup television? It’s when you find your favorite spot, watch out the window and daydream of anything dear to your heart. At the end of the day quiet time, curled up next to you is required. First he will sit on your side, then he will put a paw on you to make sure you are close and then his sleepy head will lay in your lap to make sure you don’t go anywhere. Tank is one of a kind knowing exactly how to comfort your soul and awaken your spirit. He wears his heart securely attached to his paw. His affection flows freely, his love abundant. One look at those big brown eyes and I assure you, life will never be the same. Searching for a home with complete and utter Zen. Somewhere where he has a balanced life. Exercise is important but so is resting his head at the end of the day. Do you have room in your life for a pup as wonderful as Tank? Can you give him the future he longs for? Fill out an application and maybe you can score a chance to get to know each other. Be impressed with his talented skills, silly personality and sweet demeanor. He has so much to offer someone special if just given the chance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tank is residing in one of our wonderful foster homes. If you are interested in him please stop by the shelter and fill out an adoption application. We do not have online or emailed applications. My name is Tucker and I want to tell you my story. I once had a hard knocks life. It wasn’t a life of luxury or love. It wasn’t filled with compassion, guidance or care. It was going through the motions only to survive and doing it all again the next day. My will was shattering and a piece of my heart fading a little more each day. I often sat and thought there has got to be something better, something real, something more because inside I was slowly dying and there was absolutely nothing I could do to stop it. As the days went on, although it was difficult at times, I held on to faith that the world I knew would change. Fast forward to the summer of 2017. It was early June on a bright sunny day. Life changed that day. My whole world as I knew it would never be the same. Not knowing if this would be my biggest wish come true or my worst nightmare knocking at my door. Either way I was being taken away and leaving the life I knew behind. Things were hopefully looking up for me. Next I knew I was locked up in a cage alone at the shelter. Scared, confused and unsure of my surroundings. I didn’t want to be there but I didn’t want to go back from where I came either so I held on to my hope that this would be a step in the right direction. It took me awhile to realize these people weren’t here to hurt me, they were here to help. I had a roof over my head, food in my bowl, medical care that I needed, daily walks, conversation, cuddles and best of all I finally felt loved. I had some neurological issues that needed to be tended to when I arrived as a result from my previous life but these folks were doing what they could to help me. I walked with my head slanted as my balance was slightly off in my head. Slowly it started to get better and now I’m a perfectly normal pup. Have you ever wished that a moment would never end? Have you ever dreamed that the feeling flowing through your veins would be forever? Have you ever hoped that happiness would start now? This was all coming true for me. So now about me. I’m the sweetest 7 year old Pitbull around. My absolute most favorite thing to do is go for car rides. There is no better feeling then sitting in the passenger seat next to you staring out the window watching the scenery pass by. You literally see my eyes light up. Curled up all comfy and cozy on the backseat taking a snooze for a while is certainly a close second though. Some of my other interest include moderate walks, playing with my favorite toys and cuddling with my special people. I’m still a little apprehensive of strangers, usually men more so than woman but give me some time to trust and I promise we will become fast friends. I’m just looking for a reason to believe you aren’t out to do me harm. I’m a bit vocal when I’m trying to get your attention but that’s only because I’m so excited to see you. My tail wags rapidly so be careful I don’t catch you with it. I’m fluent in my basics and would love to learn more. I might be willing to entertain hanging out with another pup once in a while but my home is my comfort zone, my safe spot, my kingdom, my place to decompress, so I ask that I don’t have to share it with another furry friend. Cats, well let’s be honest they are way too tempting not to chase so let’s not go there. Ok in the kids department, they kinda frighten me so can it just be you and me please? I promise to make up for it with lots of kisses and cuddles. My dream is to be everything you are looking for and so much more. To have a family to call my own. To have someone to go on adventures with. Oh and car ride adventures are all that more spectacular. To have a warm bed I can curl up on and let all my troubles melt away. To have the unconditional love you read about in fairy tails. Can that be our life? Please? I don’t want to be alone anymore, I don’t want to worry, I don’t want to wonder when everything will magically fall into place. If I still have your attention and this all seems magical to you too we must meet. Stop by the shelter and tell them you are here to visit the sweetest boy around & if they ask which one (Pete seems to think he’s top dog)? Why Tucker of course! Hope to see you soon and I’ll visit you in my dreams until we meet someday. Unconditional love always, Tucker Adoption hours: Saturday: 10-4 Sunday: 12-3 Monday and Friday: 12-4 Tuesday and Thursday: 12-7 Adoption fee is based on age: Dogs 7 months to 7 years are $275 **They are spayed and neutered, age appropriate vaccines, microchipped and heartworm tested. In addition, dogs adopted from the Manchester Animal Shelter are spayed/neutered, microchipped and have received their Rabies and distemper vaccinations as well as other necessary medical care such as flea treatment. All dogs are also heartworm tested. Some prudent care such as heartworm medication is not provided at the shelter and should be taken care of at the earliest convenience upon adoption.

Okay, if you're looking for the perfect all around family cat, then Tuffy is the guy for you. This 3 year young boy has literally the fluffiest tail we've seen here in a long time. No only does he look good from the back, he also has the most amazing face markings in the front. He is sweet as can be, and he gets along with respectful cats and older kids, but dogs are not his cup of tea, so he would prefer a home without them. This awesome fella loves being pet, and he even likes being held. Tuffy has a lot of energy, and he loves when people play with him. If you're looking for a cat to complete your family, then look no further than Tuffy; he's here st the shelter, and he can't wait to meet you. The adoption fee for adult cats includes the following: spay or neuter and procedure; 1 year Rabies vaccination; distemper vaccination, microchip; and combo test of FIV (feline AIDS) and FeLV (feline leukemia). Other medical care provided might include treatments for fleas, ear mites, dental work or infections or other medical conditions.
