I'm sweet Aggie, a 10 year old purebred yellow female labbie girl. I am looking for my forever home with humans who will give a senior girl lots of love. I don’t share much about my past, but I can tell you that I’ve lived in a house before. I have wonderful house manners. I take treats gently and will even sit and give you my paw. I adore soft comfy dog beds and will go right to one if you tell me to go lie down. I know my basic commands like sit, stay, down, come, wait and leave it. I go right to my bed as soon as the lights are out and sleep all night. I love car rides too! And getting brushed, it’s one of my favorite things to spend time with you and having you brush me. I love butt, ear and belly rubs! I just can’t get enough! My skills are: I catch dog treats really well. I know basic commands. I’m house trained. I’m good when left alone and really don’t need a crate I don’t chew up stuff. I'm ready for my forever home, just reach out for me! For additional information about Aggie please email Ann Hilchey at ann.hilchey@labs4rescue.org. Aggie is being fostered in Connecticut. Hi, I’m B.B #6. I’m a happy go lucky lab mix that gets along with anyone. The vet guesses I’m around a year or so old. I was in a hoarding situation but was eventually sent to a shelter to live. I get along with most other dogs as I’m not an alpha male and will follow another dog around as long as he knows where he is going and what he is doing. I enjoy going outside to play and although I have had a few accidents in the house I try real hard not to go to the bathroom unless I absolutely have to. I do whine and cry a lot for attention but I’m not a big barker. My foster family is working on this with me. Small children do scare me, so I would be best suited for a home with older children or adults. I'm eager to find my new home, so please ask all about me! Say hello to Bailey #46! Bailey is a wonderful 8 year old spunky chocolate lab who is pure joy. His tail is always thumping! He is being fostered with 2 large labs, a small poodle and a cat. He is a big boy and would be better with older children. He is housebroken, knows his basic commands and is working on mastering walking on a harness. He loves chasing a ball equally as much as he loves sleeping on the couch with you. Bailey is very affectionate to his people and other dogs. He requires a fenced in yard, not an Invisible Fence. He does not do well in a crate or kennel situation and should not be put in either unless medically necessary. Like a true Labrador, he loves the water. Don't leave the shower door open unless you want him to join you. His favorite snacks are apples with peanut butter and animal crackers. Bailey is everything a chocolate should be. He would be a wonderful addition to any family who is willing to give him as much as affection as he will give. Bella #57 is an 8 month old chocolate labby girl (DOB 8-24-17). Bella is a beautiful dog that knows some of her basic commands: sit, down, heel come and was learning to drop on command. Being a typical labrador, she loves to play ball and retrieve and to carry things in her mouth. She has been around kids and is fine with them, but older kids would be best as she can be over zealous at times. She is house trained and crate trained. She is a beautiful dog and she would do best with someone that is home a good portion of the day and is willing to finish her training. HI everyone! I'm Blake #4 and I'm awesome! I'm approximately 5 years old and weigh 70 lbs. I am such a good sweet soul that just loves to love. I'm mellow, I don't chew things up, and I love blankets and snuggles. Although I'm very easy going, I also like to play. I have good manners and am learning quickly to walk on a leash and stay in my crate. I currently live with other dogs, both large and small and even a CAT! Even though there is a cat here, I'm glad to be here and not in the shelter. That was a very sad place. I'm predominantly housebroken and I'm a quick learner who just wants a warm and happy forever home. I'm looking forward to cold nights, snuggled up by a fire with my new forever family. Bo #33 is a 3-4 year old purebred chocolate lab, he's approximately 110 pounds. Bo was surrendered because the kids in the family went off to college and the family had no time for a pet. He loves to play ball and because of that it would be nice if his new family had a fenced-in yard to allow him to run freely. Bo has learned to walk on a leash and does really well most of the time, unless he sees something he wants to go investigate. I am sure he will continue to make improvements on leash walking. He is a giant big teddy bear just waiting for a new home. For additional information about Bo #33 please email Debbie Ginn at Dhginn@comcast.net. Meet 9 year old Cara #6, who is a loving, gentle family dog. She enjoys being around people of all ages and her first reaction to anyone is to lie down and roll over for a belly rub. She is great with other animals, including dogs, cats and chickens, although she does like to chase squirrels! She does not jump up on people, or bark very much and is not destructive indoors or out. She would be ideal for someone that is home on a more regular basis, to give her the love and attention she deserves and while she enjoys walks, she does not need to go too far. She loves to roam in the yard and find a place to lie down in the sun and watch the world go by. For additional information about Cara #6 please email Ann Hilchey at ann.hilchey@labs4rescue.org. Charlie #64 is a sweet Chocolate Lab and is about 11. He is such a good boy, happy to just lay out in the grass or be pet while you are watching TV. He is great riding in the car, easy-going at the Vet, and doesn’t bark much. Believe it or not, he is a picky eater, so no worries about him stealing food. Charlie has had a rough road, having battled Lyme Disease and some muscle mass loss in his hind legs. Therefore, he needs a little help getting himself up, but usually once he is up he will walk around for quite awhile. Charlie just wants to find his forever home and give a family his love and devotion. He has great instincts and cares a lot about his people and his dog friends. There really isn’t a sweeter dog out there. For additional information about Charlie #64 please email Ann Hilchey at ann.hilchey@labs4rescue.org. Charlie #64 is being fostered in Connecticut. Meet 14 month old Dawn #3, a beautiful yellow female labrador retriever weighing 45 lbs. As you can see from her photos she is a “looker.” Dawn is a VERY smart high energy dog. She needs a family that will invest time with her. She loves challenges but can get bored when not stimulated and is very inquisitive. Dawn would be best as the only dog in the household as she tends to be bossy around other dogs. She has basic command training and responds well when issued firmly and consistently. Dawn already knows "stay, sit, down, lay down, come, drop it and leave it.” She loves to ride in cars, comes when called, and is good with kids. She likes to be near you and will gladly lay at your feet. Dawn is adept at jumping and needs a yard with a fence above 6’ and secured at the base. She is house trained and is getting better on leash walks. Dawn is a bit nervous about loud popping noises like those from a staple gun but is adapting. She is good with her crate and will go in it to lay down with no trepidation. She is a very smart dog and he so aims to please. She can be bossy and needs to be reminded that the house is yours as are all the contents. Dawn sleeps in her foster Dad's bedroom and has adapted to his sleep schedule very well. She has a future as a great lab if she if firm and consistent rules are applied. For additional information about Dawn #3 please email Deb Cook Keavy at deb.cook.keavy@labs4rescue.org. Lily had no injuries, but her sister Sammie was dragging her leg. Lily would not leave Sammie’s side. They are a bonded pair and we hope to find a home together. Lily is a velcro dog and will follow you where ever you go. She loves nothing better than to lay at your feet while you watch tv or work in the kitchen. She is housebroken, knows her basic commands, walks well on a leash, has no food issues and rides well in the car. In fact, she would rather have a ball or squeaky toy than a treat. She is quiet. Her foster parents said that she rarely barks. The only thing you hear from is the sound of her constant happy wagging tail. She is young so she needs daily exercise. She is just as happy taking a good walk or playing fetch in the yard. She is curious about squirrels so she needs to go to a home with a fenced in yard. She does not require crating and one should not be used with her. Maggie can be fearful in the vets office and should be placed in a home with older kids. Please consider adding Maggie to your family or pack. This little girl has so much love to share. For additional information about Maggie #64 please email Ann Hilchey at ann.hilchey@labs4rescue.org. Maggie #64 is being fostered in Connecticut. Hi, my name is Romeo #11 and I’m about 5 years old. I’m a big, lovable boy at 70 lbs. My history is unknown as I was found running with some other dogs and since I’m not one to spill the beans I’m keeping my history to myself. But I have let my foster mom in on a few secrets such as I know how to sit and shake. I’ve been told I have really pretty eyes too. I prefer to be inside lounging on a sofa as opposed to outside but I do like to check out my surroundings. I try not to have accidents in the house either! I’ve been good about getting outside before having to go potty. At the shelter I was kind of kept either by myself or with non-aggressive dogs because I didn’t necessarily get along with other dogs. But really my foster mom seems to think it is more a matter of which dog I get a bad vibe from as to if I like a dog or not. See I got rescued with another lab named B.B. and we had to take a car ride together to get to our foster home and I simply sat in the front seat minding my own business. When I reached my destination I did get to have my own area to myself but when I go outside I get to hang out with B.B. and some smaller dogs (male and female) and didn’t have a problem with any of them. But if you give me attention, love, food and a nice warm place to hang out then I’m a pretty cool dog. I will let you in on another secret and that’s I’m not a big fan of cats. I would rather chase them than be buddies with one! My foster family thinks I am a pretty special dog! I cannot wait to meet you! Please ask all about me! For additional information about Romeo #11 please email Shana Luzusky at shana2576@gmail.com. Sammie #13 has had a hard life. She was found by someone who likes to hunt. They saw Sammie and her sister Lily at the foot of a mountain in a remote area. They assumed they were hunting dogs waiting for their ride so they passed them by. Two days later they came back by and they were still sitting in the same spot. They stopped and saw that Sammie was dragging her leg. It was dangling and was an old injury. Her sister Lily would not leave her side. They are a bonded pair. The people who found them asked if Labs4Rescue could help so we took them in. Our vets said the only option was to remove the leg. Sammie has done well with the surgery and gets around better now. She is a very sweet and shy girl. She loves nothing better than to be on her bed and snooze. She goes outside and enjoys being there for a little while, but then she's ready to come back in. I think she has never been allowed in the house and she loves the comforts! If you raise your voice it scares her and she will find a place to hide. Sammie is 91 lbs and we think 7-8 years old. We hope to keep Sammie and Lily together since they enjoy each other’s company so much. If you are interested in making Sammie’s life much better than she has known please fill out an application. For additional information about Sammie #13 please email Marla Cox at mclabs4rescue@gmail.com. Stella #18 is around 3 years old we think and weighs 43 lbs. She is shy and sweet and gets along well with my dogs. She has a docked tail. Stella has a strip down her back and I asked the ACO officer when I picked her up what it was. She said the pit pull fighters will pour acid down the back of the dogs that won't fight. That is where they thought she came from. If you are interested in Stella please fill out an application. April 17, 2018 Update from foster mom: Stella is a small sweet girl- she is smaller than I thought she was based on her photos. Upon meeting her, she’s friendly but reserved. She will initially be leery of sudden movements or noises but this quickly subsides. If you’re willing to be patient, you will see her personality come out. Initially, she was overwhelmed with her foster brothers and sisters because there are four of them but now she is playing with all of them! It has only taken a few hours after meeting them, for her to trust them and be completely comfortable in her surroundings. She rides nicely in the car. Doesn’t jump or wine. She’s pretty quiet in the house. Enjoys dog bones and a comfy bed! Likes eating her meals and dog treats but is not food aggressive and takes treats gently. Has been very sweet around my two kids, ages 15 and 9. For additional information about Stella #18 please email Marla Cox at mclabs4rescue@gmail.com. Stella #18 is being fostered in New England.
